She was once a self-confessed exercise phobe who would do anything to get out of going to the gym.

But now former Atomic Kitten star Liz McClarnon has posed for a sexy photoshoot to show off her new figure after losing a stone on a strict six-week fitness regime.

The 29-year-old star, who poses in a sexy leather bodysuit for Closer magazine, says she is delighted with the results, especially the fact she no longer has a 'muffin top' - the name given when a band of fat spills over the top of a pair of tight trousers.

Liz, who has gone from a size 10 to a tiny 8, said: 'Losing that extra weight has made me feel so much better.

'There are outfits in my wardrobe that I wouldn’t wear before, but now I don’t have to think about it. The worst thing for me was putting on a pair of jeans with a tight T-shirt and seeing my muffin top.'

And Liz added that she has no intention of letting her new workout plan fall by the wayside now she has lost the weight, adding: 'For the first time ever I’m actually enjoying exercise!

'I’ve got so much more energy. Until recently I’ve been filming until midnight, but I’d still get up every morning at six for the gym – and once you start to see results it spurs you on.'

However, Liz, who now weighs nine stone, insists she doesn't want to lose any more weight because she doesn't want to succumb to the same pressure to be thin she felt when she was in hit early Noughties band Atomic Kitten.

She told Closer: 'I was so self-conscious about my body, but looking back I was very slim. I just didn’t realise it. Now I feel like I’m at the size I want to be.

'The main thing for me is being toned and healthy. I used to be out of breath walking up a hill, but now I don’t even feel it.'

And Liz admitted she looks to stunning model Kelly Brook as her inspiration, adding: 'Kelly Brook has got an amazing figure because she’s curvy but toned, so she’s my body inspiration.'

Liz also revealed she is finding the extra energy she now has incredibly useful to cope with her increasingly-hectic schedule.

As well as just having finished filming the new series of her makeover show Hotter Than My Daughter, Liz is currently touring in the musical War Of The Worlds with Jason Donovan.

Discussing how she balances everything out, Liz said: 'It’s non-stop at the moment, but I now have the energy to cope with it all!'

The full interview appears in this week's Closer magazine, out now.
