Independent Spirit Awards – 2011Winners


The Spirit Awards, considered as the Oscars for Indie films, announced the winners for its 2011 edition.

Here is the complete list of winners for the 2011 Spirit Awards:

Best Feature: Black Swan

Best Director: Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan)

Best Screenplay: Stuart Blumberg & Lisa Cholodenko (The Kids Are All Right)

Best First Feature: Get Low

Best First Screenplay: Lena Dunham (Tiny Furniture)

John Cassavetes Award (For the best feature made under $500,000): Daddy Longlegs

Best Supporting Female: Dale Dickey (Winter’s Bone)

Best Supporting Male: John Hawkes (Winter’s Bone)
Best Lead Female: Natalie Portman (Black Swan)

Best Lead Male: James Franco (127 Hours)

Best Cinematography: Matthew Libatique (Black Swan)

Best Foreign Film: The King’s Speech (England)

Best Documentary: Exit Through The Gift Shop

Film Independent, the non-profit arts organization, produces the annual Spirit Awards. The show was hosted by Joel McHale last Saturday night, February 26.
