Just curious.
Who played what role in the reversal of USCIS/DOS decision?
Did IV core / AILA / Congresswoman Lofgren worked together in the back ground? Flower campaign / SJ rally / media - newspaper articles ?
May be all of the above had its unique impact on USCIS's decision to accept I-485?
Below article is just one example. There are many like this which mention about IV. IV hired a lobbying firm and work with different people for lobbying efforts. But the whole effort was lead by IV.

USCIS has recently published a new fact sheet of common questions and answers for members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. The fact sheet is worth reading if you are in the Armed Forces because the answers to some of the questions are different (and usually more advantageous) to members and/or dependents of those in the Armed Forces. For instance, if you are a civilian, obtained your green card through a marriage to a U.S. Citizen and you have been married for less than two years, you must file Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence (http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=f858d59cb7a5d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCR D&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1 RCRD) to remove the conditional residence and obtain your permanent green card. With GC process bound to take long, staying at the same place to avoid changing address may be a big challenge.
Has anybody considered using PO box for address on I-485? My lawyer did not allow me to use PO box during July 2 filing.
Will it be possible to go online and change to PO box address for I-485?

I don't think that's possible. USCIS wants a physical address where you stay and will not deliver mail to PO box. In fact there is no forwarding of documents sent by USCIS too. They are all returned to USCIS.
This issue I think originates from the fact that USCIS wants to know where all aliens are physically staying.
I wanted to have a PO box to avoid any issues with mail theft and my lawyer said its not possible.

And what is IV's stand on bringing this issue up to the concerned parties? Nothing - nada - nilch. IV's simply doesn't care even if USCIS wastes another 50,000 EB visas this year. As the article suggests 50,000 is the typical annual wastage of EB visas by USCIS (600,000 in 12 years = 50,000/year).
Please take this post as a constructive criticism.

I am going to apply for my H1 renewal. I have my I-140 approved and I-485 application pending from Aug 2007. Additionally, being from India, my visa number is retrogressed.
I got my first 3 year H1 extention from 2006-2009. Now I am appllying for my next 3 years H1 extention. However, I am seeing USCIS asking for client letter and copy of contract. Additionally, one employee of my company got renewal for 3 months only, since his project was getting over in 3 months.
My company gets Purchase Orders for 1 year duration only from my client, but I have a intent to renewal for up to 3 years. I am about to enter into my 2nd year of contract.
I am working with my lawyer to present my case the best way to ensure that we get a renewal of 3 years. Here is what my lawyer recently stated

Yes it happened to me, I didnt loose my internet connection that time but simply forget to change address on my pending 485 applications :)
Called the USCIS customer service center and one of the representative did update manually. Yes you can also do that for sure

I checked all the FAQ's etc but could not find a link that would explain how to change only the pending petitions, since AR-11 was already changed.
Please let me know if anybody was in the similar situation.

Are you working for your new employer now? (I assume not).
Is you new employer a consultancy, i.e, your final work assignment will be for another client... if so, then you should expect a RFE (not gauranteed, but most likely) regarding client details and contracts... assuming you fall under this category, I would suggest you to apply for premium processing if you are able to respond to such an RFE...
But otherwise, I wouldn't recommend using premium processing, since you are almost 6 months away from expiry....

If after joining the H1b employer he has travelled out of the country, got the H1 stamping done and then returned to US then he is ok. It is the last admittance that counts . He should be maintaining his status legally since his last entry in US which is more important. Nothing to worry about.

Hi-
I am applying for my EAD/AP renewal. The received date on my I-485 notice is Aug 2007. According to USCIS, if you filed after July 30 2007, you are not required to include a Fee.
I am looking at my receipt notices and I feel like I payed under the old fee structure and should include the fee. Here are the amounts
I-485 : $395.00
I-765 : $180.00
I-131: $170.00
Can someone please advice if I need to include the fee for AP and EAD renewal.

There are no guarantees when you are dealing with the USCIS. I was current in April 2005. Approval came in November 2007. Call the USCIS customer service and initiate service request.

I have never taken photos with the camera actually under water, but I have taken pictures of fish in aquarium, and to my knowledge water movement appear to not matter for the clarity of the image. This is as long as the water is clear in itself, and of course, there is no air bubbles or some other "stuff" moving in the water - if you have lots of air-bubbles, they will leave traces in flowing (or still) water if the shutter speed is short.
