10 singers ang napili to sing the Ogie Alcasid and Noel Cabangon composition "Bagong Pilipinas" or "New Philippines" para sa inauguration ni President-elect Noynoy Aquino III on June 30 at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.
Ogie and Noel were commissioned by the inaugural committee para gumawa ng kanta na magiging official inaugural song when P-Noy sworn in as Philippines 15th President.
Jed Madela, one of the 10 singers chosen to sing "Bagong Pilipinas" said he was so moved by the song that he still got goosebumps even after recording the music.
"Ganda, sobrang ganda. Actually, hanggang ngayon, nag-goosebumps pa din ako, listening to all singers singing as one," Madela said.
Bukod kay Jed, napili rin para kumanta ng "Bagong Pilipinas" sina Ogie Alcasid, Jim Paredes, Mae Paner (Juana Change), Nina, Christian Bautista, Noel Cabangon, Gary Valenciano at Regine Velasquez.
"For the first time, the song will be sang by all singers. And then we’re going to be backed up by the Symphony Orchestra, 70s Band, the Madrigal Singers…and Kunderana will be there," Ogie said.
He added, "Lahat nga kami iba’t iba ang channel, ng network. In fact, Gary openly was supporting another president, but he came here. It’s not about that anymore. It’s about coming together and working as one."
"Bagong Pilipinas" will be included sa isang special music album na ipo-produce ni Kris Aquino, P-Noy's youngest sister.
