We just applied for a student loan and got approved. Here are a few things we found out during the course of applying for the loan.
The only difference between you applying while on H1 vs. as PR/Citizen are the interest rates. Also if you are a PR/Citizen you qualify for a federal Stafford loan, which has the least interest rate and the best terms.
If you are on H1 and you can get a PR/Citizen as a co-signer you can qualify for other private loans with lower interests than without a co-signer. The only issue with having a co-signer is that it their credit report is going to reflect the loan and could impact their credit worthiness.
You [& co-signer] will have to send documents proving you are legal in this country. You need to fax - first page of passport, H1 approval, PR card [if you claim you are a PR]
PS: Not all companies give Student loans to Non-Citizens or Non-PR's. While on H1 the best deal we found was at http://www.accessgroup.org/

Tell him that this is NOT India or any other country where they can do 10 things to get votes. I heard this from one guy who is on EAD and thinks something will happen in the election year. purely ludacris..
it means you don't have any experience in US politics, your relative is right election year is going to play some rule in immigration politics, democrats are pitching of hispanic votes they will try to do everything possible to get their vote, but main concern here is American public are against increase in any form of immigration. so odds are itz going to be counter productive for us as our case always depends on illegals.
so your relative is right but itz better for you to change job and get along with your life, if they laws are changed for better you can start your GC with new company and get it without losing lot of time, if not atleast your going to make good money

I may travel to India in Oct on AP for first time. I am working on EAD and changed employer with AC21. I will use AP at POE.
1) Do I have to get any transit visa if I go through European countries?
2) Will there be any problem at POE? Any recent experiences?
3) Do I have to go to consulate in India?

I was looking for getting VISA for my Niece and Nephew, who are below 14yrs. But I didnt find an option for them not going to consulate.
it take more effort n paperwork to get the visa without going to consulate even for the kids below 14, better option is to go to consulate.
My 4 yr old niece went in person for the visa along with an adult of course.

I-485 RFE details.
Needed evidences:
1. 2 Passport size photos in USCIS specs.
2. Form I-693 completed by civil surgeon.
We did submit all these requested I-693 and photos during the initial filing. My question is, does USCIS request for new I-693 if the original one submitted is older than one year or more?
As far as i know medicals are valid for 2 1/2 years.
Answer to your next question is, there could be many possibilities.
1. USCIS might have lost your original 693
2. There could be something which is not clear in the original 693 etc
Don't worry much. Just give them what they asked.

I am trying to port from EB3-EB2 from the same employer.
Prior to joining the employer, I had MS+2 years of experience. However, the lawyer applied in EB3. The job description read:
Required: BS+3
MS+1 also accepted
Experience in technologies A,B,C,D
I applied based on my MS+1 experience. Now the same company has another position with a very similar job description with a different title.
Required:MS+1
Experience in technologies A,B,C,D
Q1. Would this qualify for a EB2 position? Do I have to worry about the job descriptions being almost similar
Q2. The titles are different. But the EB2 position doesn't have "Senior" in the position title. Is there a need to worry?

EAD and AP are benefits due to AOS pending. They are not status by itself. Thus it is optional while filing 485. Once you file 485, you are automatically in legal status to stay in US. H4 status enables you to reentry to US. Similarly, if you loose H4 for some reason ( like in Ur case), AP will allow your spouse to reenter USA.
Please consult an attorney.

"Interim EAD. If you have not received a decision within90 days of receipt by USCIS of a properly filed EADapplication or within 30 days of a properly filed initial EADapplication based on an asylum application filed on or afterJanuary 4, 1995, you may obtain interim work authorization byappearing in person at your local USCIS district office. Youmust bring proof of identity and any notices that you havereceived from USCIS in connection with your application foremployment authorization."
Notice that Interim EAD is for ASYLUM Applicants.

Is there any impact on AC-21 guys.... I changed my attorney to Fragomen after using AC-21....
My labor filed back in 2002 by different attorney and approved in a year.... Now I wonder if there is any impact on my case since I'm using Fragomen as my attorney while AOS is pending....

I lost my job in December but was lucky enough to get back on a project within two weeks. What i find about this post is that it is a strange way of trying to get attention, and attention for what, do you or have you an idea or a roadmap to address the issue ?
What does participation mean
Going for some march or peaceful rally that does nothing or very little
come on wake up and start suggesting ways of addressing this and we will be more than willing to participate
Lets talk of productivity not activity where people just send emails or calls etc etc that leads to no where, what we want is a good solid recognition of the fact that the world is a golbal village and productive resources should have a easier path to stay anywhere in the world
By the way without mincing words and with no malice to you...this heading of yours is really an incorrect way of drawing attention cause i know a lot of my friends who have been laid off now for more than two to three months and have been in the US, more than i have i.e. over 8 to 10 years and are still waiting for a GC and have nowhere to go and beleive me are in a very bad shape, emotionally and financially....
So in short either Lead the way with good suggetions/options rather than gathering people and money that leads to nothing and nowhere and only takes 2 leaps forward and 4 leaps backward (in terms of immigration reforms)
