La Opini�n, the nation�s largest Spanish-language newspaper, urged a boycott in an editorial Monday, as did the Rev. Al Sharpton, and calls for such action spread to social media sites. The San Francisco city attorney and members of the Board of Supervisors said they would propose that the city not do business with the state.
They followed the lead of Representative Ra�l M. Grijalva, Democrat of Arizona, who had urged conventions to skip the state, though other Democrats who oppose the law, including Mayor Phil Gordon of Phoenix, pleaded for people not to punish the entire state.
Tourism and convention managers, struggling to rebound from the recession, said it was too soon to tell if the effort would have an impact, but some businesses said people were turning away from the state.
At the Arizona Inn in Tucson, the manager, Will Conroy, said that over the weekend 12 customers canceled reservations or said they would not return to the state because of the law.

I got my I-140 (EB3) approved with the priority date of November-2004.
I applied another Labor (EB2) in Feb 2007. When applygin for I-140 for this labor, my lawyer forgot to use the approved I-140 for getting the old priority date (Nov 2004 priority). So, I got the I-140 approval for EB2 case with Feb 2007 Priority date.
Now, can the lawyer change the priority date on the I-140 (EB2) to Nov 2004 using the previous I-140.

If they'd only "fix" the Social Security Card to be more secure, I'm sure you'd reduce much of the illegal employment. the way the SS card is designed right now, anyone could print out as many of these on his home printer.

I would not get married until I have the GC in hand. In the mean time ask your gf/fiance to start her GC process thro employer. Once you have your GC, you can get married and apply for her GC. Whicher way her GC comes first - i.e. through employer sponsored or through your sponsorship, go with that. I think its taking around 3-4 years for GC to sponsor their spouse.

Just now I noticed my previous H1 renewal papers,In that My first H1 expired on Feb 20 2002. My previous employer applied the extension and got the approval but Receipt date on that application was Feb 26 2002, (Six days after the first H1 expired date) and got approved in Jun 2002 .Is it a problem,I never went outside US after I came here.Now I am in AOS status....

EB 3 India..PD 03/24/2006. EAD approved-10/28/07; AP-01/09 , also same for the derivatives too..I-140 approved 09/13/2007, Also FP done..in OCT.

Hello,
According to my knowledge the majority of name checks submitted are electronically checked and returned to the submitting agency as having "No Record" within 48-72 hours. The processing time for FBI name checks usually take from 30-120 days but timing does vary from case to case. The FBI’s intention is to have all visa requests processed within 120 days. Most name check requests that are over 60 days old are the result of the time required to retrieve and review field office record information. Any case which is not processed within this time frame is usually delayed because of a potential "hit" which will be further reviewed manually.

That will taken care in-between both the lawyers, but it is your employer who should be ready to accept this. I have one of my colleague who just requested employer and he hired new attorney and got all his papers moved.
So bottom line, employer should agree.

I have the following status working with the original H1B employer who filed for my green card petition:
1) PD Jan, 2007, EB3-I
2) I-140 approved and pending AOS
3) 2 yrs. EAD available, expiring Sep. 2011
4) H1B will be expiring within 3 months (1 year left from 6 years limit)
My questions,
1) Can I use EAD instead of extending H1B? I want to stay with the same employer as a
full time employee.
2) If yes, is it required to inform INS? How and when?
3) In that case, how me, my son (middle school student, H4 & pending AOS) and wife's (EAD & pending AOS) stay in US will be justified with no valid I-94 (assuming I am not extending H1B anymore) ?

ICE has arrived at worksites with both criminal and civil warrants. It has searched businesses, frozen bank accounts, and arrested not only employees but also employers. This recent indicment sends a clear message to employers.
We keep reminding employers to ensure compliance with the I-9 requirements under IRCA, a company should establish an I-9 policy that includes:
* The proper and timely completion and retention of Form I-9 for all employees hired after November 6, 1986;
* Zero-tolerance for the employment of individuals who do not provide the proper identity and employment eligibility documents for Form I-9;
* A tickler system for I-9s that require reverification;
* I-9 training for all company representatives who are part of the recruitment, orientation, and hiring processes for the company; and
* Regularly scheduled in-house I-9 audits.
Conducting self-audits puts a company in better position if it becomes the subject of an ICE investigation. While employers cannot verify whether documents used for employment authorization are authentic, self-audits establish good-faith compliance.

Is she studying for nursing boards or in nursing school?
If you have foreign degree then there are several steps, I think it involves CGFNS, visa screen, nclex, etc. CGFNS will take care of setting equivalency and authenticity of degree. I don't think there is need of wes evaluation, I could be wrong. Go to Carl Shustermann website and it explains in detail. Just google it.
I am also studying for boards right now, I passed my BSN from nursing school here.

Please while protesting, Try to position yourself in ways where the society will accept you. I took sociology and learnt a great deal and I feel minorities need to find a common ground and establish themselves with a new society. Please do not make them detest us or bully us in anyway. The racial slur will hurt our Commitment toward fair immigration. Mexicans brought US flags and acted like they are " them" - the common people of USA. We should win hearts by CONNECTING WITH CULTURE and SOCIETY WHICH WILL BE HOME FOR US IN YEARS TO COME.
COME CASUAL. WEAR CLOTHES THAT PEOPLE IDENTIFY YOU WITH. FIND WAYS A COMMON AMERICAN MAN CAN UNDERSTAND YOUR SENTIMENT. I AM POSITIVE THIS WILL WORK. IT CREATES UNDERSTANDING THROUGH ESTABLISHING SIMILARITY.
