Suri Cruise had a go at Let's Play Mother this weekend when she trotted along with a baby doll in a pushchair.

The five-year-old visited the Brentwood County Mart with her own mother Katie Holmes and upped the cuteness stakes as she pushed her dolly along.

According to an eyewitness, Suri stopped at various points during her outing to check on the doll and 'make sure it was ok'.

Or at least the Tom Jones crooned version of Leave Your Hat On that staggers majestically at the apogee of the soundtrack, as that's just what he did in a Miami pool today.

The 49-year-old was enjoying some well earned leisure time with his wife Katie Holmes, 32 , and adorable daughter Suri, five , after toiling away on the set of new film, Rock of Ages.

It remains to be seen if the Randy Newman song covered by Jones, forms part of the play-list for the musical extravaganza, but Tom certainly seems attached to his fedora of late.

Katie and Suri both opted to brave a wet head, though the former wound her hair into a chignon to keep it from the chlorinated water, a look that it fast becoming a favourite of hers.

The Don't Be Afraid of the Dark star opted for a black bikini and white shorts when she hopped out of the pool, where she sat lovingly alongside her muscle-bound husband.

The Cruises looked like any other family enjoying some precious time together as they dined on pasta at the hotel, then opted to cool off in the secluded pool, where Tom helped Suri swim in an adorable show of father-daughter affection.

Suri appeared to be wearing a pink and blue swimming costume, rather than a dress as she did on Miami beach last month, when Katie had possibly been unprepared.

Tom was seen serenading his ladies at one point, no doubt with one of the rock classics he's been working on for the hotly tipped blockbuster.

The birthday shindig took place both inside the SoHo Beach House and on its roof, where guests dined on Italian dishes as well as chocolate cake, according to the People.com

Katie was delighted that she managed to pull off the surprise, and couldn't hide her glee as she arrived at the bash, looking lovely without a scrap of make-up.

Excited about the festivities, the mother-of-one then broke into dance, moving to the beat of some Caribbean music as she arrived for the party.

And now Katie Holmes has explained the story behind the much-criticised pictures of Suri out in New York in freezing winter temperatures without a coat.


Speaking to InStyle US magazine, the 32-year-old admits to being embarrassed about the pictures.

She tells the magazine: 'Recently, Suri and I were taking a walk and a fight got started because it was cold outside and she didn't want to wear her coat.

'My philosophy is, well, fine, because after a block of walking you're going to ask me for your coat.

The summer that style forgot for Tom and Katie! Family go on a Father's Day Cruise in hideous outfits

Most dads will be opening up gifts this Father's Day filled with unflattering
shirts, socks and and odd smelling after shave.

And it seems like Tom Cruise has already opened up bundle of terrible presents this year and decided to put them all on at once.

The 48-year-old actor and his wife Katie Holmes both looked like they pulled on the nearest thing to them without considering how they looked.

Family time: Suri, five, was hoisted up in her mother's arms as usual as they walked toward the luxury yacht to go on their afternoon cruise


Tom looked like the father who tries way too hard to be cool and fails miserably.

The family celebrated Father's Day in Miami, Florida where Tom is filming the Eighties theme musical Rock of Ages.

He paired a white shirt with a red and blue trim with khaki shorts. The Top Gun star then put on bright white sneakers with white socks and paired the whole ensemble with a fedora hat.

Katie did not fair much better and despite the scorching Florida heat decided to wear a long sleeved striped sweater dress and sandals - obviously getting her seasons mixed up.

Forget Suri's swimsuit, Katie? Little Cruise splashes about on Miami beach in her sundress

Did mum forget to pack your cossie? Suri Cruise is snapped in the ocean at Miami Beach fully-clothed in a multi-coloured sundress


Most people take a summer dress to the beach with them to cover up when they've had enough sun for the day.

So either Suri Cruise is a very shy little girl or her mother Katie Holmes forgot to pack her swimsuit.

The little girl was snapped frolicking in the sea at Miami Beach with her mum fully-clothed in a multi-coloured dress.


Not that the five-year-old seemed to care that she was soaked to the skin and her dress was clinging to her as she splashed about with her mother.

Katie, on the other hand, was clad in more suitable beach wear in a burgundy bikini and pink short.

The pair looked like they were having a great time together as they played together in the surf.

And Suri was seen squealing in delight as the waves crashed up against them, at one point knocking Katie off her feet.

The pair were enjoying some quality time together in the Florida city where Daddy Tom Cruise, 48 , is filming his new movie, Rock of Ages.

Cruise is undergoing an amazing transformation to play long-haired, tattooed rocker Stacee Jaxx in the film, which is due for release next year.

It tells the story of a girl who arrives in Hollywood at the height of the 1980s rock scene and also stars Russell Brand.

It's a very different role for Tom, and Katie has given her backing to the career departure for her husband by revealing that he likes to perform at their home.

And she must be delighted that the choice of film locale is so appealing, engendering as it did, her lovely day with Suri.

The little girl had to leave her designer shoes behind and settle for a pair of more practical flip flops for the day on the beach.

Her mother is reported to encourage Suri's love of shoes, urging her favourite designers to make custom-heels for the gorgeous child.

A source told Star magazine: 'Suri has so many designer shoes.

'She’s a massive fan of Marc Jacobs and she’s had several shoes custom-made, so if they didn’t come with a heel, Katie had them redesigned for Suri. She commissioned a pair of Louboutins for her a while back!'

'The older she gets, the less she wants to wear anything but little heels,' she source continued.

'Even when she’s going to play dates or walking on the beach, she cries if Katie reaches for anything but a little pair of sandals with some sort of heel.'

'If they don't come with a heel, Katie has them redesigned for Suri. She commissioned a pair of Louboutins for her a while back!'

But the pre-kindergarten cutie's parents believe that her precocious fashion sense is something to be nurtured, and even let her choose their own clothes.

The insider added: 'Suri sometimes picks out the shoes her mum should wear, and then picks out shoes for her dad! They genuinely seem to value her opinion and want her to make her own decisions.'

It looks as if this time, little Suri has decided to jump in both feet first, to the delight of her proud mother.
