The Dark Knight Tops All Box Office Record

The latest Batman flick, The Dark Knight, grossed an estimated $18.5 million so far, the most ever for midnight shows. The previous record was held by Star Wars, Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith, which grossed $16.9 million.

The highest single day opening record is currently held by Spider-man 3 which made $59.8 million. The Dark Knight made an estimated around $64 million in its first day.

Some box office experts are saying the Christopher Nolan-directed flick may reach $170 million this weekend.
